• About This Program:
CopyQueuer (pronounced Copy - Q - er) is a shareware program that allows you to select multiple files and folders from different locations to be copied later as a group (while you eat.) Very useful for ARA and AppleTalk users because you don't have to wait around staring into the monitor each time you copy something. You can also have CopyQueuer perform an action when done copying such as beeping three times or shutting down your mac and turning off your modem.
Compatibility:
• Works on all macintoshes, including PowerPCs, that are running any version of System 7.
• 32 bit clean, all round nice program that uses only 90K of RAM!
Supports:
• Drag-and-drop: drag files in the Finder over CopyQueuer's icon to add them to the queue list. If the Finder does not let you drag anything over CopyQueuer's icon then you must rebuild the desktop file (hold down command+option keys on startup) or use a program such as Save A BNDL to make the Finder recognize that CopyQueuer can accept fies.
• Drag manager: If you have Apple's Dragging Enabler system extension installed, you can drag files onto the “Queue To Be Copied” window to add them to the queue list. The Finder and any other program which supports the new drag manager (such as Greg's Browser version 2.3 or greater) can be used as the source to drag the files from (note that the files themselves are unaltered.)
Features:
• Show Queue Items: Shows and hides the window entitled “Queue To Be Copied”. This window displays all of the queue items in the order of which they will be copied (the same as the order in which they were added.) The window also contains five buttons, some of which correspond to the above menu plus an added Remove Item function:
• Add Item…: Displays an open dialog which allows you to add files, folders, disks, and shared volumes. If you want to add a lot of files using this dialog, click on the “Keep Adding” check box to keep the dialog open after you add items.
• Remove Item: Removes the selected item(s) from the queue list.
• Check Queue: Checks if all of the queue items can be found and if any have the same name or are repeated in the list.
• Clear Queue: Removes all of the items from the queue at once.
• Copy Queue: Tells the Finder to copy the entire queue. Note that this is compatible with programs that replace the way the Finder copies (such CopyRight ro SpeedyFinder7.) If you do not have the “Always copy to the folder:” check box set in your preferences, then a open folder dialog will appear prompting you to select a folder to copy the items into. If you do have that check box on and you hold down the Option key before copying the queue, the open folder dialog will appear. The settings for how the queue is copied and what happens after the copying is done can be changed by choosing "Preferences…” from the Edit menu. The settings shown below are desirable for performing a late night ARA copy as you will find out by reading the item descriptions.
• Copy each queue item separately: If this box is checked the files will copied one at a time instead of in chunks (large read and writes for multiple files.) This feature is very benificial to ARA users who are afraid of disconnection (it happens often on poor phone connections) because items that have taken a long time to read will not all be forgotten.
• Beep three times: Beeps at the current sound volume.
• Quit CopyQueuer: Exits CopyQueuer after it has performed the other selected copy-done tasks.
• Send shut down event: Tells the Finder to restart in a nice manner (it will quit all the applications first.) Note that this will also disconnect any modem connection.
• Always copy to the folder: When this option is on, choosing Copy Queue will not ask any questions and just copythe queue to the the selected folder or volume.
• Shareware Info:
This program is shareware which means that you should pay for it if you find it useful and use it for more than a week. I do not believe in programs that work for a small amount of time and then all of a sudden refuse to work until you pay the shareware fee. There are no exploding logic bombs or annoying "give me money now!" messages if you do not pay the requested fee. I have worked hard on this program and simply request that you do what you feel is right and pay the small fee because:
a) Recieving shareware fees encourages me to continue developing this program, ie. adding features which you request.
b) If you have an Internet address you can choose to have me send you the latest releases of this program.
c) It has taken a long time to develop this program and make it bug free so please, if you play, please pay.
